Running a 3M+ Student Ecosystem Without Growing the Tech Team
The Challenge
GUVI's Zen Class programs manage the complete student lifecycle — enrollment, daily live classes, assignments, mentorship, mock interviews, certification, and placement. Running this across a large and fast-growing learner base created heavy manual overhead: attendance tracking, class scheduling, submission management, and multi-level reporting all consumed significant operational hours. GUVI needed a single, unified platform engineered for scale — one that could automate these workflows end to end and give students, mentors, and administrators each a purpose-built experience, without proportionally growing operational headcount.
Our Solution
Zen Portal — One Platform, Three Purpose-Built Experiences
Student Module
Students manage their entire journey inside the portal — attending daily live classes, following a structured learning path, and accessing materials by module and topic. Every class is auto-recorded for revision, and attendance is captured automatically from live-class participation via Zoom integration. It also handles assignment submission with full status history, 24/7 query support, in-portal mentor-evaluated mock interviews, and self-service certificates — with a dashboard consolidating progress, attendance, and pending vs. completed work at a glance.
Mentor Module
Mentors run their batches entirely through the portal — creating and assigning tasks, reviewing submissions, giving feedback through completion or revision workflows, and conducting recorded mock interviews. Scheduling a live class automatically generates a Zoom meeting via API and pushes the link into each student's view. A mentor dashboard gives a real-time batch view: completion rates, individual performance, attendance, and a frequent-absentees section for proactive intervention.
Admin Module & Multi-Level Reporting
Administrators control the full academic framework — courses, modules, chapters, lessons, learning paths, batches, mentor assignments, schedules, and per-mentor permissions. A six-level reporting system gives operational visibility at the student, batch, course, mentor, placement, and platform level — from individual mock-interview scores to platform-wide enrollment and certificate-download volume.
Engineering & Architecture
Zen Portal runs as a Dockerized microservices architecture on AWS, with a React.js frontend and Golang backend services. The data layer is polyglot by design — PostgreSQL for relational data, MongoDB for flexible document storage, and Redis for caching, sessions, and real-time query handling — engineered specifically for high-concurrency live-class usage and a continuously growing student base.
Key Impact
The platform supports GUVI's full Zen Class ecosystem in daily active use.
Attendance, scheduling, submissions, and reporting — previously requiring significant human effort every month — now run automatically.
GUVI reached this scale with Wizzgeeks operating as the end-to-end engineering partner, rather than expanding internal headcount.
The Customer
GUVI Geek Network Private Limited, an HCL Group EdTech company headquartered at IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai. GUVI runs technology upskilling and career programs, including its flagship Zen Class — an outcome-oriented, mentor-led bootcamp model taking learners from enrollment through structured learning to job placement.
Engagement: End-to-end platform engineering partnership under a long-term MSA, since 2024.
The Outcomes
Zen Portal replaced manual, disconnected operations with a single system engineered to scale alongside GUVI's student base.
One Platform, Three Purpose-Built Experiences
Students, mentors, and admins each get an experience built for their role, instead of a single generic interface stretched across three very different jobs.
Manual Work Replaced by Automated Workflow
Attendance capture, class scheduling, and multi-level reporting run automatically — freeing the operational hours that used to go into tracking them by hand.
Built to Scale With the Student Base, Not Against It
The Dockerized microservices architecture and polyglot data layer were engineered specifically for high-concurrency live-class usage, so growth in student numbers doesn't strain the platform.
“Working with Wizzgeeks on our new Zen portal was a game-changer. They delivered a robust, scalable, and beautifully designed learning platform used daily by a rapidly growing student base. Their technical expertise, clear communication, and ability to turn our vision into a seamless, high-performing platform truly stood out.”
